plans for the day:
watching more of season 2 of degrassi: TNG
watching more of the JOB - it's good but rescue me is sooo much better but you can see totally where rescue me came from in this show. and how much more supportive the FX channel is as compared to FOX.
And than there's all the writing and emails I have to respond to.
And I do want to go to the bookstore at the end of my street and buy that book - HITLER"S SCIENTISTS sounds like a light read.

So I picked up a copy of the NME today at the library and discovered Carl and Pete had a reunion a couple of weeks ago. That's hot.
That's the good news.
The bad news when I drink I spill things. My beer, and I dropped my hot dog I was so upset.
The best news. Got my Dropkick Murphys ticket today.
That will be neato.
And it's my birthday next week so there should be a party or going out somewhere. I hate birthdays but I dig drinkin' it up.

He totally ran away for three days once.
He fell off something last week and spent a couple of days at the vet.
He is just pretty much totally clumsy. Loves to hang his head off the fridge or any thing from any height and is more than likely to get his head caught on something and fall.
He's covered in fleas as well. SCABBY TABBY.
but he's pretty amusing at the end of the day.

THREE POOLS
People insist frequently that Three Pools in the Valley is a wicked place. But I have yet to be really taken with it.

I have been there twice and both times I am just totally unimpressed. It's a nice spot, but not somewhere I'd want to swim at. The water if full of eels and bugs and it looks very murky. Sure there are places to jump off but no real decent swim.



Dudes seem to really enjoy this place like they have never been in the woods before. It involves a bit of a walk which becomes a bit of a hike and than you end up scaling some rocks, which will probably scare the hell out of you and reasonably so. If you are going you need some good footwear, not flip flops.



And I don't mind the hike, though the bugs suck, it's just I'd like a nicer reward at the end of the hike.



Both times I have gone it has involved getting lost on the drive out there. Now I could find it no problem but I don't really ever want to go back. But I probably will again someday.

I guess drinking until 5 in the morning the night before didn't help. Though it did make me less anxious about scaling cliffs because I was so hung over and tired that I didn't really care if I fell.
Paraphrasing:
Me:"Liam, you know I know I should be scared but I just don't care."
Liam:"I could fall off the cliff come out of the water with all my skin hanging off and just keep going, 'like lets get out of here', that's how shitty I feel already."

The day ended nicely with BBQ and three hours of America's Funniest Videos.
Alexis: "They should call this show "Look how irresponsible we are in taking care of our children and elderly."
Scott: "You know when a dad is video taping because after his kid gets hurt he still taping. The mother's immediate shut off the camera."

what became of the likely lads

The Libertines.

The Libertines are one of my favorite bands. I did not really get into them until after they had broken up.


There were four members in the band but best mates Pete and Carl garnered the most attention.

They have two albums. Down the Bracket, 2002, and The Libertines, 2004, and though not much was notice was given to them by american audiences they gave the british music scene a good kick. A return to rock music and away from Coldplay esque bands. The Libertines was written and recorded during a time when the two men were very much at odds and had to have security in the studio to stop them from pummeling each other. Songs like Can't Stand Me Now are a pretty obvious reference to this tension.

Aside from the music the artistic/passionate friendship of Pete and Carl was something quite unabashedly homosocial. And still inspires quite a lot of fanfic.
Which is usually sort of unnerving.

Pete Doherty in the last year has become fodder for the tabloids and most people believe he will be lucky to make it to 30. While The Libertines (without Pete - due to drugs, or rehab, or something) were playing a show in 2004 he broke into Carl's flat and robbed it. This was pretty much the end of the Libertines.


It was quite the split and papers covered it like a reality show couple had just filed for divorce. There was constant commentary on where the two men were, and if they had bumped into each other at a bar and the reaction from those who watched anxiously.


The two have moved on to other bands. The Babyshambles, recently dropped from it's label, is fronted by Pete and Carl has Dirty Pretty Things. Both bands have had trouble as everything they do is marked by comparisons to the Libertines and to each other. Fans and critics look to the lyrics to as clues to the men's feelings on the loss of the other. But the men have moved on.

i just want to party. why does my body rebel against me though.
so i drank about a pint of vodka, and than went to the bar where i continued to consume recklessly and danced like an ass.
than i decided it would be awesome to roll down citadel hill. within 20 minutes of that i am losing my lunch, which is never done delicately.















yet my mind is still going, but the room won't stop spinning. damn you room. with my head so heavy that it can't be lifted off the table, i keep my eyes closed tight and still manage to mock everyone around me and make, i think, some sparkling comments about... well i can't really remember. but i do remember being quite impressed with myself.
